HANDLING AND CLEANING OF OPTICS

Students will receive basic professional knowledge and skills for the proper cleaning and handling of commonly encountered optics. Students learn how to inspect common optics for contamination using various methods and how to recognize types of contaminates and how to treat each type. Basic cleaning techniques are shown for un-coated and coated optics. Handling techniques of common optics for assembly, storage, and cleaning will be explored and practiced. Students will receive basic knowledge on solvents and soap chemistry. Finally specialty cleaning techniques will be taught.
